"....It's summer: this is the most favourable moment for harvesting lemons. Its rind reflets the hot climate that wraps up the Amalfi coast, the terrace-cultivation falling straight down to the sea are overflowing with this citrus, a child of sun, a child of work and of women who, as in a new birth, generate and reap this seed of theirs.
Even a lemon carrier girl, Filumena, walks up the steps which lead her to the mythical gardens of Hesperides. These women, like nymphs, preserve and take care of these gardens. Filumena's beauty is full of this land and of the stormy sea: but the work is hard, the owner orders and demands respect. But she dreams of having another life; she's fallen in love with the owner's son, a night of love...and then a baby...but the dream eventually becomes a gloomy reality"
