Maiori, Italy - The Amalfi Coast's charm extends beyond summer as the Gran Carnevale Maiorese invites visitors to revel in a unique cultural celebration from February 23 to March 9, 2025. Now in its 51st year, the event will enchant audiences with the theme "La Meraviglia" (The Wonder), a tribute to creativity and imagination that has defined this iconic festival for over five decades.
On Saturday, November 23, at 5:30 PM, the official unveiling of the allegorical float sketches will take place at Palazzo Mezzacapo in Maiori. Hosted by Neapolitan actor Lino D'Angiò, the event will also be streamed live on the Gran Carnevale Maiorese's Facebook page, providing an exclusive preview of the papier-mâché masterpieces set to parade along Maiori's scenic promenade in four grand processions.
The evening will open with the premiere of the documentary "Passione senza tempo: 50 years of Carnival in Maiori", chronicling the history of this beloved event through the voices of choreographers, builders, and past participants. This heartfelt homage to tradition also looks to the future, capturing the essence of the festival's enduring appeal.
Adding a touch of nostalgia, the trophy from the 50th edition—originally donated in the early 1980s by the local tourism board and recently restored—will be on display. Dedicated to the memory of Roberto Di Martino, the cup represents the spirit of community and competition that has long characterized the event.
"The 51st edition of the Gran Carnevale di Maiori will be one of wonder," said Artistic Director Alfonso Pastore. "After celebrating our 50-year milestone, we now embark on a journey of imaginative possibilities to captivate and amaze our audience."
